Mahdist War period, 1880’s. Skillfully cut from a single piece of wood, 9 ¾” height. Five  symmetrical projections over a pierced block. The bottom cut as comb teeth for teasing the hair and anchoring the comb as an ornament and identifier of the clan of the owner. One comb tooth splintered, otherwise excellent.
